In 1962, King Kong clashed with a new monster, Godzilla, becoming one of the best monster fights of all time. Sixty years later, the two Titans of cinema clashed again in Legendary's MonsterVerse, saving movie theaters. For a time, fans questioned where the MonsterVerse would go now that the two alphas had made a truce. Turns out, a new threat was brewing in the Hollow Earth and Godzilla and Kong would have to go from rivals to allies! Having found a home in Hollow Earth, Kong desperately searches for others like him while Godzilla keeps order on the surface. Kong eventually finds what he is looking for though a new threat makes itself known forcing Kong and Godzilla to unite or fall. After the success of Godzilla vs Kong, it was clear that the MonsterVerse would continue; the main stars put aside their rivalry for the greater good. Godzilla needs no introduction. As the world's most famous movie monster, he is seen by the masses as both a global defender and a force of destruction so terrifying, words can't describe it. So many iterations of the character exist that there is a Godzilla film for everyone, a testament to the character's longevity. Ever since Shin Godzilla released in 2016, fans wanted more. It would be years before Toho would bring their famous character back to the big screen, only now, he would be placed in post war Japan, more terrifying than ever before. Following the end of WWII, Japan had lost everything. After the war, a lone soldier returns only to be shunned and is overcome with guilt. Just as Japan is beginning to rebuild, a gargantuan monster attacks, bringing the country from zero to minus. Due to contractual obligations, Toho was unable to produce any Godzilla film's until 2020, essentially being forbidden to release anything alongside Legendary's MonsterVerse. Takashi Yamazaki

In 2018, the Transformers series was rebooted with the release of Bumblebee, a story about love and overcoming loss. Due to the films success, it allowed the Transformers series to have a fresh start as a sequel was in the works. This sequel, unlike Revenge of the Fallen, would raise the stakes but not be lazy about it (Seriously, Prime's death in RotF was just meant for shock value). This time, the world would be at risk as a cosmic entity set its sights on earth, becoming a race against time. A great discovery brings together two unlikely people as they learn of alien races looking to protect themselves and humanity from an unspeakable horror. When the enemy reveals itself, it becomes a race against time to save the earth. With Bumblebee essentially rebooting the franchise, it allowed for new ideas, a way to introduce new characters and tell more engaging stories. Originally, the working title was Beast Alliance, a way to introduce the Beast Wars characters to a new generation.

In 1981, Nintendo released a classic arcade game called Donkey Kong, a fun little game where you took control of a character called Jump Man to stop his pet ape and save his girlfriend, Pauline. The game became a massive success, not only being fun, but introducing the world to who would later become one of the biggest gaming mascots in history. Four years later, Nintendo would release a game that would make history, saving the gaming industry by giving it a story and a duo of characters who would be known the world over: The Mario Bros.! Mario and Luigi set out on their own to make a name for themselves, refusing to give up so long as they are together. When they become separated and end up in a strange world, it is up to Mario to not only rescue his brother but save the Mushroom Kingdom from the clutches of the evil Bowser. Video game movies don't have the best reputation though it can seem earned in that regard as many, many films in the genre are deemed inferior to the games
